    <title>The Microsoft Ultimate Video Relay</title>
    <pubDate>Wed, 21 May 2008 04:00:00 -0700</pubDate>

<p>If you’ve been on the site recently you’ve probably seen the new ad’s for something called The Microsoft Ultimate Video Relay. The Relay is a collaborative film competition where you determine the second and third acts of a three act short.
It is an opportunity for writers everywhere to show what they’re made of, it’s like the scholarship you should have applied for in high school, only there are no essays or GPA’s here, this time you’re judged on something you love doing: storytelling.
The Video Relay is a chance for anyone and everyone to continue what “Fanboys” director Kyle Newman started. Here’s how it works: First, watch the first act of the Microsoft Ultimate Video Relay directed by Kyle; Second, register on UltimateVideoRelay.com via TriggerStreet.com (if you haven’t already): Third, submit your screenplay. Once you become registered, and your screenplay has been submitted, you will randomly be “served” the submitted scripts of other contestants on which you vote. For those that are active on TS.com, this should sound familiar. At the end of the voting period for each of the two acts, the six best scripts (twelve total) from each are chosen as finalists.
Even if you don’t win the overall competition, if your script is chosen as a finalist, you’ll still be awarded a Top-of-the-line Falcon DRX Laptop Computer, Windows Vista Ultimate, Pinnacle Studio Software and a Sony HDR-SR11 Handycam. These finalists will then use their prize packages to produce their own version of the Microsoft Ultimate Video Relay’s second act. Keep in mind, even if it doesn’t work out the first time, you still have a second chance to do so once the application period for the third act opens near the end of July. And if you’re a TriggerStreet.com member, registering is fast and easy. As if things couldn’t get better, one lucky registrant will even have the opportunity to win the above prize package just for voting.
So here’s the real question: why not? How long would it take you to write a 2-6 minute second act? You have the beginning; you get the idea, now run with it. Besides, do you know what the Microsoft Ultimate Video Relay really is? It’s a chance for 13 people from the Trigger Street community and beyond to walk away with a decked out computer, all the software you need, and a camera too. Questions? No? Then start writing, because submissions for the second act are due by June 2nd.</p>
